How this works

Privacy: A password passed as a query parameter would appear in the shareable URL, your browser history and the web server access log. This tool therefore accepts no password parameter and computes the estimate locally in JavaScript.
Method: Entropy is estimated from the character set in use and the length, then reduced for common patterns (dictionary words, keyboard runs, repeats, dates). Crack time assumes an offline attack at 10 billion guesses per second.
